V3 Update 09 Jun.27.2023

Post by David »

Update 09 - Download from Run 8 Studios
  • New Updating Method: The Run8_Updater App
    • Run8's Main Menu now "phones home" during startup to see if there's a new V3 Update available, and if
so, a button will appear over the version label in the top-center of the menu
    • Pressing this button causes V3 to close and our new Run8_Updater App to start
    • You can also run the app by double-clicking it or creating a desktop icon
    • The Run8_Updater App will check the server for any updated Run8 files and download them
    • You no longer need to download those huge 400+mb update installers anymore
    • The app is available for download on our website's Updates page
    • Please Note: For anyone who has just installed V3, there will be about 1100 files to be downloaded to bring your sim up to date, and it may take about 15 minutes or so to complete. For a normal update from the previous version, it should only take a few moments depending on how many new files there are
    • IMPORTANT: The Run8_Updater.exe file MUST be in the same location as V3's exe, otherwise it will not work properly; actually it won't work at all
    • You should also run the Run8_Updater app real quick after installing DLC content so as to make sure your files are up to date. All of our DLC routes are handled by this new system, including the Southeast Region
  • Mojave Sub
    • Triple-head signals at Mojave and Kern Jct now display the lower head properly
    • Added missing intermediate signals on Metrolink line near Lancaster
    • Added missing numberboards on Metrolink signals between Palmdale and Lancaster
    • Corrected two mis-configured signals on Metrolink between Vincent and Lancaster
    • Corrected an issue preventing Otto from routing Metrolink NB thru Palmdale Jct
  • San Bernardino Sub
    • Added missing intermediate signals (161-164) near Harrison Street railroad-west of CP Arlington
    • Added missing intermediate signals (241-244) railroad-west of CP May
    • Intermediate signals (261-264) moved closer to CP Prado
    • A local siding has been added at Santa Fe Springs between the control point and Telegraph Rd
    • Two storage sidings added off of Main 1 between CP Basta and Fullerton
    • A Univar tank-car industry has been added between Los Nietos and Santa Fe Springs
    • Fixed a naughty signal head at CP Riverside (M1 bottom head)
    • Fixed a naughty intermediate signals next to Washington St (signals 132 & 134)
  • Cajon Sub
    • At Silverwood eastbound, the TrainSymbolRoutings.xml (as well as the signal itself) has had the tag
changed from "@SWBNSF" to "@SWBNSF_Only". This means Otto will only send trains over Silverwood
that MUST diverge and no others. Before, he would send trains that MUST, but was not prohibited from
      sending others as well
  • Locomotive Main Reservoir Realism Enhancements
    • When a loco is Dead-In-Train, the Main Reservoir will now only charge to 25psi off the brake-pipe. Also, if
the Main Reservoir was previously higher than 25psi, it will drain itself to 25psi. This is done to prevent
overly high braking forces during train-brake applications
      • Note: the sim automatically sets a loco as Dead-In-Train when its diesel engine is off and there is no MU connection front or rear and the Isolation Switch is set to Isolate
    • When MU'd, the MR Hose now has the proper 5/16" choke simulated in the MU connection. This is done in case an MR hose in the consist breaks, the Air Compressors can still keep up with the leak
  • Oops:
    • Fixed an audio crash bug when aboard a locomotive's external attach-points (damn programmer...)
    • Fixed an obscure rare crash condition if the Train Tagger was open during a coupling event
    • Fixed sanders getting stuck On after setting a new lead-loco on a consist
